Abstract

This review examines the book *Studies in Judicial Law*, which compiles the papers presented at the 1st and 2nd Student Congresses on Judicial Law (2011–2012), organized by the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso, the Chilean Judicial Academy, and the Ius Novum Center for Studies. The publication aims to contribute to establishing the law of the judiciary as an autonomous branch of law.

The book is structured into seven sections that address, from different perspectives, topics related to judicial organization, current issues and proposals for reform, the administrative reorganization of the courts, special courts, oral proceedings, the practice of the legal profession, and issues of procedural law. Through contributions from academics, students, and judges, the book analyzes topics such as judicial autonomy, transparency, recruitment and judicial careers, the financing of the justice system, the accountability of judges, jurisdictional specialization, and the transformations resulting from procedural reforms.

Taken as a whole, the book offers a broad and multidimensional view of the judiciary, allowing both for individual reading of its contributions and a systematic approach to developments in this legal field.
